Water That Falls (WTF)

Art style: Photography

This project was born out of pure curiosity, my passion for photography combined with my technical background. I built a device that allowed me to drip drops onto the surface of water in a controlled manner and meanwhile trigger a precise photo.

I put my heart, my soul and countless hours of trial and error into this project. On top, I tried combinations of over 200 different liquids and countless lighting settings. From water to juices to alcohol to oil and even milk. I left nothing untried. I shot about 1.3 million pictures. Among them were 10,000 usable ones, from those were 1000 successful compositions with great drop bouquets. From these, I now present 512 unique pictures in 23 photo series, which will not exist a second time. Each as unique as a fleeting moment can be.

A byproduct of this process was a series of great new drink combinations, some of which actually tasted good. It even inspired me to give my art a name that would also do justice to a delicious cocktail.

Welcome to the WTF bar.
